Vintage Turkish Runner Rug, Isparta Handwoven Wool Medallion, Distressed Ivory Mauve, 77 x 266 cm / 30.3 x 104.7 in / 2.5 x 8.7 ft, Anatolian Floral.

✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.
You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This runner was hand-knotted in Isparta — one of Turkey's most celebrated rug-weaving cities — and dates to 1986, making it approximately 40 years old. Isparta rugs are known for their fine knotting, sophisticated medallion compositions, and the enduring quality of their Anatolian wool.
The field is a soft, faded ivory cream — worn beautifully over four decades into something almost luminous. Across the length of the runner, large repeating floral medallions anchor the composition, rendered in dusty rose and mauve with slate blue and charcoal outlining. Between and around the medallions, flowing arabesque vines fill the ivory ground with quiet movement, giving the rug a sense of depth and rhythm.
The rug carries an honest, natural distress — low pile, even wear, and a gentle patina that makes it feel both ancient and perfectly at home in a modern interior.

✦ THE MEANING BEHIND THE PATTERN
The repeating medallion is one of the most significant compositions in the entire history of Anatolian rug weaving. Unlike an all-over floral pattern that distributes meaning equally across the field, the medallion draws the eye to a center — a point of focus, of order, of intention. In Turkish tradition, the medallion represents the cosmos: a universe organized around a single axis, where everything radiates outward in perfect balance.
A runner with repeating medallions carries this meaning along its full length. Each medallion is its own world — complete, balanced, whole. And yet they follow one after another, connected by the same vines, the same logic, the same hand. It is a composition about continuity: one generation flowing into the next, one home welcoming the one that comes after.
The woman who wove this runner chose a pattern that was both grounding and expansive. She placed order beneath every footstep. In your hallway, that quiet order continues — a path made beautiful, one knot at a time.
