The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. This runner was hand-knotted in Isparta — one of Turkey's most celebrated rug-weaving cities — and dates to 1989, making it approximately 35 years old. Isparta rugs are known for their fine knotting, rich floral compositions, and the lasting quality of their Anatolian wool.The field is a deep, faded crimson red — a color that has aged magnificently over three and a half decades, shifting from a pure red into something richer and more complex, with lighter areas where the pile has worn most naturally. Across the entire surface flows a dense all-over pattern of botanical vines and floral rosettes, rendered in ivory and charcoal navy. The contrast between the bold red ground and the pale ivory motifs gives this rug a dramatic, graphic quality that feels at once ancient and very current.
