✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.
You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ WHY THIS RUG IS A PATCHWORK
Some vintage rugs arrive to us with damage that cannot be fully restored — a stain here, a worn patch there, a section where decades of use have taken their toll. When damage is scattered across a carpet, cutting a single clean shape is not always possible.
In these cases, we take a different approach. We carefully select the most beautiful and intact sections of the original carpet and join them together — by hand — into a new unified form. Every section used in this piece comes from the same original Isparta carpet, woven in 1982. The patterns, colors, and wool all share the same origin.
The result is a rug that is entirely honest about what it is — a rescue, a reinvention, and a second life given to wool that deserved to survive.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This patchwork semicircle rug is assembled from sections of a single hand knotted Isparta carpet from 1982 — making the original wool approximately 43 years old. It is the quieter companion to our other patchwork piece from the same carpet — softer in tone, more muted in contrast, and more restful to look at.
The faded dusty pink field carries floral and botanical motifs in slate blue, navy, sage green, and warm cream. The composition reads in gentle horizontal bands — a natural result of how the sections were joined, and one that gives the piece a calm, layered rhythm. The colors have faded evenly over four decades, creating a palette that feels considered and lived-in rather than worn out.
A fine geometric stripe border in slate blue and burgundy runs along the lower edge, tying the composition together with a quiet precision.
This is a rug for someone who appreciates subtlety — where the beauty is in the patina, not the spectacle.
