✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ WHY THIS RUG WAS CUT INTO A SEMICIRCLE
Some vintage rugs arrive to us with a story written not just in their patterns — but in their damage. A stain that could not be removed. A tear along one edge. A section where decades of foot traffic wore the pile down to nothing.
When a full carpet has damage concentrated in one area, we face a choice: discard the entire piece, or save what is still beautiful.
We choose to save it.
By carefully cutting the rug and reshaping it into a half moon form, we rescue the undamaged portion — the part that still holds its color, its knots, its character. The edges are then hand-stitched to secure the new shape, and the rug is cleaned and restored before it reaches you.
This is not a compromise. It is a second life — given to a piece that would otherwise be lost.

This semicircle rug was hand knotted in Isparta, Turkey in 1983 — making it approximately 42 years old. It carries a completely different character from the other pieces in our collection — warmer, bolder, and more grounded in the earth tones of its era.
The field is a deep crimson red — rich and saturated, with a natural warmth that comes from decades of gentle aging. Large oversized botanical and floral forms fill the space in blush pink and sage green — loose and painterly in their composition, arranged with the confident asymmetry of a hand that knew exactly what it was doing.
A wide peach beige border runs below, structured and calm against the vivid field above. Burnt orange arabesque scrolls and fine black geometric detailing move across the border with precision — a classic Isparta border vocabulary rendered in an unusual and beautiful color combination.
The wool surface is low and worn, with the honest patina of more than four decades of life. Warm, grounded, and quietly striking.
