This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ WHY THIS RUG WAS CUT INTO A SEMICIRCLE
Some vintage rugs arrive to us with a story written not just in their patterns — but in their damage. A stain that could not be removed. A tear along one edge. A section where decades of foot traffic wore the pile down to nothing.
When a full carpet has damage concentrated in one area, we face a choice: discard the entire piece, or save what is still beautiful.
We choose to save it.
By carefully cutting the rug and reshaping it into a half moon form, we rescue the undamaged portion — the part that still holds its color, its knots, its character. The edges are then hand-stitched to secure the new shape, and the rug is cleaned and restored before it reaches you.
This is not a compromise. It is a second life — given to a piece that would otherwise be lost.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This semicircle rug was hand knotted in Isparta, Turkey in 1984 — making it approximately 41 years old. It is cut from the same original carpet as our previous listing, but this section captures something different — the full medallion center of the original composition.
The hot pink field sits at the heart of the piece, carrying the classic Isparta rosette rendered in ivory, sky blue, and warm brown. The medallion radiates outward with confident symmetry. In the upper left corner, a soft faded mint green appears — a remnant of the carpet's original corner accent, now gently aged to a quiet, dusty tone that contrasts beautifully against the pink.
The wide ivory border wraps the lower and side sections, filled with flowing floral bouquets — blue iris, sage leaf, dusty rose, warm brown stem — arranged in a continuous chain of color and movement. A narrow camel and pink geometric band frames the outer edge.
This piece has more visual complexity than its companion — asymmetric, layered, and full of life. It is not a quiet rug. It is one that earns its place in a room.
