✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This rug was handwoven in Isparta — one of Turkey's most celebrated carpet-weaving cities, known for its refined floral compositions and exceptional wool quality.

What makes this piece truly extraordinary is its color story — and the human story behind it.
The field is covered in a dense, repeating arabesque and floral pattern: scrolling vines, blooming flowers, and delicate botanical motifs spread seamlessly across a bright ivory white ground in warm brown tones. But the border tells a different story. Look closely, and you will notice that one side is warm brown, while the other has faded into a dusty mauve — a soft, romantic lavender-purple that is almost never seen in vintage Turkish rugs.

This is called abrash. It happened because the weaver ran out of yarn mid-work — and continued with a different dye lot. In a factory, this would be a defect. In a handwoven rug, it is the opposite: it is proof that a real person made this, with her own hands, under real conditions. It is a mark of authenticity that no machine can replicate.

The dusty mauve tones that resulted are rare and beautiful — exactly the kind of faded, romantic color palette that is highly sought after in modern cottagecore, boho, and feminine interiors.
The pile is low and smooth, worn gently over four decades into a flat, velvety surface. Condition is good: no tears, no odor, edges intact and hand-stitched.
