✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG

This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand β€” on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey β€” places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile β€” what we call "hav" in Turkish β€” to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter β€” in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This runner was cut from a larger handwoven Isparta carpet, preserving the richest central section of the original piece. Isparta is one of Turkey's most celebrated rug-weaving regions, known for its finely detailed floral compositions and exceptional wool quality.
The design is a dense all-over floral and botanical pattern β€” no central medallion, no border β€” just cascading vines, blooming flowers, and curling leaves spreading across the entire warm golden ivory field. The motifs are rendered in deep red, burgundy, sage green, dusty blue, and camel, creating a rich yet harmonious composition that feels both traditional and timeless.

The symmetrical layout gives the runner a formal elegance, while the deeply distressed, nearly flat pile softens everything into a warm, faded beauty that works effortlessly in both vintage and contemporary interiors.

The pile is nearly flat β€” worn beautifully over more than 50 years β€” giving the surface a smooth, velvety texture. Condition is good, with no tears, no odor, and no missing sections.
