This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This piece was cut from a larger hand-knotted carpet woven in Isparta, Turkey in 1976 — making it nearly 50 years old. Isparta has been one of Anatolia's premier rug-weaving centers for over a century, known for fine wool knotting, classical compositions, and exceptional durability.

The design is an all-over climbing floral vine — one of the oldest and most celebrated patterns in Ottoman textile tradition. From a warm ivory-cream ground, sinuous stems branch outward in every direction, carrying open blossoms, curling tendrils, and layered leaves. The motifs are rendered in dusty blue, blush rose, and warm brown tones, creating a delicate, painterly quality across the entire field. There is no central medallion — the pattern flows continuously, giving the rug a garden-like, organic feel.
A decorative border in dusty pink and steel blue frames both short ends of the rug, featuring additional floral detailing that completes the composition.

Over nearly five decades, the pile has worn evenly to a low, smooth finish. The ivory ground has deepened slightly with age, and the colors have softened into a beautifully muted, faded palette — warm, quiet, and deeply characterful. This is genuine antique patina, impossible to replicate.
The rug has been professionally washed, sheared, and edge-finished. It is clean, stable, and ready to use.
