This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This rug was woven in Isparta, a city in southwestern Turkey long celebrated as one of the great rug-weaving centers of Anatolia. Dated to 1981, it is now over 40 years old — old enough to carry genuine character, young enough to remain structurally strong.
The design is an all-over floral lattice — a dense, repeating pattern of stylized flowers and curling vine tendrils that cover the entire field without a central medallion. This type of continuous floral layout is deeply rooted in classical Ottoman textile tradition and gives the rug a rich, layered visual texture.

The ground is a deep, warm burgundy-red. The motifs are rendered in silvery white and dusty blue-grey, creating a soft contrast that feels both vintage and timeless. Over the decades, the pile has worn evenly across the surface, creating a naturally distressed, faded quality — especially visible in the lighter areas of the center field. This patina is not damage; it is the authentic mark of age and use.
