✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

This piece was cut and shaped from a larger handwoven Isparta carpet — a deliberate upcycling process that gives a second life to exceptional vintage textiles. The semicircle form was carefully cut and the edges professionally hand-stitched, making it structurally sound and ready for daily use.
What makes this rug stand out is its extraordinary color palette — a faded sage green field that transitions into a bold fuchsia pink floral medallion. This sage green and fuchsia combination is not only rare in vintage Anatolian weaving but is also one of the most sought-after color combinations in contemporary boho and maximalist interiors right now. The cream lower border carries delicate botanical motifs in pink and navy blue, separated from the main field by a warm brown geometric stripe.
