✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This piece was cut and shaped from a larger handwoven Isparta carpet — a deliberate upcycling process that gives a second life to exceptional vintage textiles. The semicircle form was carefully cut and the edges professionally hand-stitched, making it structurally sound and ready for daily use as a doormat or decorative accent piece.
What makes this rug truly rare is the animal figure motifs on the vivid crimson red field — a design element that is uncommon in Isparta weaving and highly sought after by collectors. The upper border carries a beautiful row of pink roses and floral sprigs on a cream ground, separated from the red field by a deep navy blue stripe with geometric detailing. Teal green and black accents run throughout, adding depth and richness to the composition. The colors remain bold and vibrant despite decades of age.
