This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This rug comes from Isparta, one of Turkey's most celebrated weaving regions. At 91x172 cm — just over 3x5.5 feet — it sits at the versatile edge between accent rug and area rug: large enough to anchor a seating area or fill a bedroom, compact enough to work in smaller spaces where a full-size rug would overwhelm.
The design is an allover trailing vine — scrolling stems carrying small floral clusters and leaf forms across the entire terracotta field, edge to edge, without border or medallion. This borderless allover composition creates a sense of movement and energy, as if the garden is still growing. The mint and sage green of the vine details provide cool contrast against the warm terracotta ground, and ivory accents catch the light throughout.
The colors have aged beautifully. The terracotta has deepened and mellowed — no longer sharp, but warm and complex, with undertones of dusty rose and burnt sienna depending on the light. The mint has softened to a quiet sage. This is a rug that has lived in an Anatolian home for decades, and it carries that history in every fiber.
The rug is in good distressed condition — low pile, natural wear consistent with age, structurally sound.

✦ THE MEANING BEHIND THE PATTERN
The allover vine — "sonsuz desen" or endless pattern in Turkish — was one of the most meaningful compositions a weaver could choose. Without a beginning or end, it represents eternity: the continuous thread of life, beauty, and connection that runs through all things.
In Isparta tradition, the vine was always filled with flowers — never bare, never empty. Each bloom was a moment of joy the weaver placed into the fabric for the people who would live with it. The terracotta ground — the color of Anatolian earth, of fired clay, of harvest — grounded everything in the physical world, while the vine carried it skyward.
This rug was made to fill a home with warmth. It still does.
