Vintage Turkish Runner Rug, Isparta Handwoven Wool Floral, Distressed Pink Navy Blue, 75 x 177 cm / 29.5 x 69.7 in / 2.5 x 5.8 ft, Anatolian Botanical

This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.
You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This runner was hand-knotted in Isparta — one of Turkey's most celebrated rug-weaving cities — and dates to 1973, making it approximately 50 years old. Isparta rugs are known for their fine knotting, rich floral compositions, and the quality of their Anatolian wool.
The field is a soft, faded dusty rose pink — a color that has mellowed beautifully over five decades. Across the entire surface flows a dense all-over pattern of botanical vines, flowers, and leaves, rendered in navy, teal, and deep crimson. The border is bold indigo blue, filled with floral cartouches and smaller botanical details that frame the composition with elegance.
The rug carries an honest, natural distress — the kind that only comes with age and real use. The surface has a low, even pile with a gentle patina that gives it the soft, lived-in look that makes vintage pieces so sought after in modern interiors.

✦ THE MEANING BEHIND THE PATTERN
The all-over floral design on this runner belongs to one of the oldest and most beloved traditions in Anatolian weaving. In Turkish rug culture, flowers are never merely decorative — each bloom carries meaning. Roses represent love and the divine. Tulips, sacred to Ottoman art and culture, symbolize paradise and abundance. Vines and trailing stems speak of continuity — of life growing forward without end.
A woman who chose an all-over floral layout was making a quiet but powerful statement. She was not centering her rug around a single medallion or symbol. She was filling every corner with life — as if refusing to leave any space empty, any moment unblessed. The density of the pattern reflects a kind of generosity: a wish that wherever this rug was laid, the home would be full — of beauty, of warmth, of good things growing.
When you place this runner in your hallway or kitchen, you carry that intention forward. The flowers keep blooming — just in a new home, in a new century.
