✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This runner was hand knotted in Isparta, Turkey in 1975 — making it approximately 51 years old. It is the wider companion piece to our other runner from the same original carpet — and the more boldly colored of the two.
The field is a vivid, bright emerald green — more saturated and alive than the narrower piece, with the color reading almost as fresh despite five decades of natural aging. Dense scattered floral and botanical forms fill the entire surface — dusty pink roses, dark red accents, warm cream, and navy blue — arranged with the relaxed confidence of a hand that knew exactly what she was making. There is no border. No medallion. Just the scattered repeat, covering the field entirely.
The wool surface is heavily distressed and very low — but the color is what makes this rug. It speaks clearly.
