This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.

What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This runner was hand-knotted in Isparta — one of Turkey's most celebrated rug-weaving cities — and dates to 1992, making it approximately 30 years old. Isparta rugs are known for their fine knotting, rich floral compositions, and the lasting quality of their Anatolian wool.

The field is a luminous, faded ivory cream — and across every inch of it flows a dense, intricate network of botanical vines, flowers, and leaves. The main vine structure is rendered in deep burgundy, creating a rich tracery across the pale ground. Within this network bloom flowers in navy blue, dusty rose, and soft teal — a color palette that is at once warm and cool, bold and gentle.

What makes this runner particularly striking is the density of the pattern. There is no empty ground, no resting place for the eye — just continuous, living growth from one end to the other. The distress is natural and even, with the ivory ground glowing softly through the worn pile.

In the Anatolian weaving tradition, an all-over floral pattern with no central medallion and no empty ground carries one of the most generous meanings of all. The weaver who chose this composition was not organizing the world around a single point — she was declaring that every point is equally full, equally alive, equally worthy of beauty.

The vine is the oldest symbol in Anatolian textile art. It represents continuity — the unbroken thread of life passing from one generation to the next, one home to the next, one hand to the next. A vine does not stop. It does not pause at the border of the rug. It simply grows, and grows, and grows.
