✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.
You will never find another exactly like it.
✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This runner was hand-knotted in Isparta — one of Turkey's most celebrated rug-weaving cities — known for fine knotting, rich floral compositions, and the lasting quality of their Anatolian wool.
The field is a luminous ivory cream — open and light, glowing softly with warmth. Across every inch flows a dense all-over botanical arabesque: curving vines, flowers, and leaves in deep burgundy and navy blue, with dusty rose accent florals scattered throughout. The pattern is continuous, rhythmic, and alive — the kind of composition that reveals new details the longer you look.
The combination of ivory, burgundy, and navy is one of the most timeless in the Anatolian rug tradition — warm and cool, bold and gentle, ancient and completely at home in a modern interior.
✦ THE MEANING BEHIND THE PATTERN
The all-over botanical arabesque on this runner carries one of the most generous meanings in the Anatolian weaving tradition. Unlike medallion rugs that draw the eye to a single center, an all-over composition fills every inch of the field equally — no corner left unblessed, no space left without beauty.
The vine is the oldest symbol in Anatolian textile art. It represents continuity — the unbroken thread of life passing from one generation to the next, one home to the next, one hand to the next. A vine does not stop. It simply grows.
The burgundy and navy together speak of depth and rootedness — colors that say: this home is serious about beauty. This home has history. The ivory ground beneath them says: and it is also open, also light, also ready for what comes next.
In your hallway, that continuity carries on with every step.
