✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.
You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This runner was hand-knotted in Isparta — one of Turkey's most celebrated rug-weaving cities — known for fine knotting, graceful floral compositions, and the enduring quality of their Anatolian wool.
The field is a warm, faded beige gold — luminous and honeyed, aged beautifully over decades into something soft and inviting. Across this pale ground flows a loose all-over botanical vine: curving stems, leaves, and flowers in dark brown and charcoal, generously spaced so the warm ground breathes between each motif. At both ends, a structured ornate floral border frames the composition — adding elegance and definition to the flowing open field.
The overall effect is understated and deeply warm — a rug that feels like it has always been there, always belonged.

✦ THE MEANING BEHIND THE PATTERN
The botanical vine on this runner is one of the most quietly powerful symbols in the Anatolian weaving tradition. Unlike geometric patterns that organize the surface into rigid structures, a botanical vine moves freely — branching, turning, finding its own path from one end of the rug to the other. It is a pattern about the natural way life grows: without plan, without force, simply following the light.
In Turkish weaving culture, the vine represents continuity and connection. It is the thread that runs from one generation to the next, from one home to the next. A rug with a vine pattern in the hallway says: this house is connected to something larger than itself. This house has roots.
The warm gold ground beneath the vine carries its own meaning — the color of harvest, of abundance, of everything that has been worked for and earned. In your hallway, that warmth travels with everyone who passes through.
