✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This rug was hand knotted in Isparta, Turkey in 1973 — making it approximately 52 years old. It is one of the oldest pieces in our current collection, and one of the most classically beautiful.
The outer border is a warm, rich chocolate brown — dense and grounding, punctuated with small white dot accents and botanical scroll motifs that move along the edge with quiet precision. Inside the border, a wide ivory cream field opens with generous calm. The central medallion composition is classic Isparta — a formal medallion at center rendered in soft brown and taupe, so close in tone to the cream field that it reveals itself gradually rather than announcing itself. Corner spandrels anchor the four edges with architectural symmetry.
Across the ivory field, flowing floral bouquets bloom in soft brown, warm taupe, and muted grey — roses, botanical stems, and leaf forms arranged with the natural confidence of a hand that had woven this pattern many times before. The entire palette is warm, neutral, and deeply restful.
The wool surface is low and distressed, with the honest patina of more than half a century of life. Structurally sound, professionally cleaned, and ready for its next chapter.
