✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This rug was hand knotted in Isparta, Turkey in 1983 — making it approximately 42 years old. It is one of the softest and most quietly feminine pieces in our current collection.
The outer border is a faded soft lavender — cool and calm, with a gentle geometric pattern that frames the composition without demanding attention. Inside the border, a wide ivory cream field opens with generous light. An all-over botanical vine pattern covers the entire surface — warm brown stems branching and curling across the ivory ground, punctuated by small floral heads and leaf forms. There is no central medallion. There is no inner border. Just the vine, repeating from edge to edge with a slow, meditative rhythm.
The palette — ivory, warm brown, and soft lavender — is calm and considered. It works equally well in a bohemian bedroom, a Scandinavian living room, or a romantic reading corner. The distressed low pile adds texture and warmth without heaviness.
A rug that settles into a room rather than announcing itself. The kind that people notice gradually, and then cannot imagine the room without.
