This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

This Turkish rug was hand-knotted in 1985 — approximately 40 years ago — in the Anatolia region of Turkey.
What makes this piece exceptional is its surface. Decades of natural use and aging have worn the wool pile down to an almost flat, tonal finish — a warm otter brown and taupe, with the ivory cotton foundation showing through in places. The result is a surface that reads as nearly solid from a distance, but reveals subtle tonal depth and texture up close. It is the kind of worn-in, raw quality that interior designers seek out and that simply cannot be manufactured.
The near-square format — 94 x 109.5 cm, almost 3 x 3.5 ft — is unusually versatile. It works as a bedside rug on either side of a bed, as a small living room accent, as an entryway piece, or layered over a larger neutral rug for a curated, textural floor moment.
