✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This rug was hand knotted in Isparta, Turkey in 1986 — making it approximately 39 years old. It is one of the most energetic and visually striking pieces in our current collection.
The field is a deeply faded raspberry red — warm, saturated, and alive even after nearly four decades of aging. An all-over botanical vine pattern covers the entire surface — thin dark charcoal stems branching and curling across the field, punctuated by small scattered floral heads and rosettes in cream and soft grey. There is no central medallion. There is no border. The pattern fills the rug from edge to edge with a continuous, almost meditative rhythm.
This borderless all-over composition gives the rug a distinctly modern quality — it reads like a textile print as much as a traditional carpet, and works as well in a contemporary interior as a bohemian one. The heavily distressed wool surface adds raw character and depth that no new rug can replicate.
A rug that is both old and surprisingly current.
