✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.
You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This rug was hand-knotted in Isparta — one of Turkey's most celebrated rug-weaving cities — and dates to 1977, making it approximately 50 years old. Isparta rugs are known for their fine knotting, refined floral compositions, and the enduring quality of their Anatolian wool.

The field has faded over five decades into something almost otherworldly — an ivory white so pale it approaches the color of old linen or bleached bone. Against this near-white ground, warm brown floral clusters repeat in a gentle vertical composition: each cluster a small gathering of botanical blooms and leaves, soft and unhurried. There is no border — the pattern simply flows freely to the edges, giving the rug an open, unconfined quality that feels very modern.
The distress on this piece is extreme and beautiful. This is not a rug that has been artificially aged — it has simply lived, and time has transformed it into something that could not have been designed. It is the kind of piece that stops people in their tracks.

✦ THE MEANING BEHIND THE PATTERN
There is something quietly profound about a rug that has faded this completely. The original colors — whatever bold hues the weaver chose in 1977 — have surrendered entirely to time. What remains is the structure: the pattern, the knots, the intention. The flowers are still there. The composition is still there. Only the color has gone.
In a way, this rug has become something the weaver never intended — and something more beautiful than she could have imagined.

The near-white surface carries every floral cluster like a whisper, like a memory of something that was once vivid and is now soft and still.
In Anatolian tradition, flowers represent life and renewal. Here, those flowers have been bleached by time into something that speaks not of life's beginning but of its long continuation — quiet, patient, enduring. A home that places this rug on its floor is a home that is not afraid of time passing.
