✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This rug was hand knotted in Isparta, Turkey in 1979 — making it approximately 46 years old. It is one of the most quietly beautiful and universally versatile pieces in our current collection.
The field has washed over nearly five decades to a soft ivory cream — warm, clean, and luminous. Across the entire surface, a botanical vine and floral lattice repeats in a continuous all-over pattern — delicate stems and small floral heads rendered in warm taupe and dusty blue-grey, so close in tone to the ivory ground that the pattern reveals itself gradually rather than announcing itself. There is no central medallion. There is no dominant border. Just the lattice, moving slowly and evenly from edge to edge.
A narrow bej border with a repeating tulip and leaf motif frames the composition with quiet precision — understated and correct.
The overall palette is near-tonal — ivory, warm taupe, dusty blue-grey. It is the kind of rug that works in almost any room and almost any style. Bohemian, Scandinavian, minimalist, farmhouse, transitional — it fits them all because it does not impose itself. It simply settles in and makes the room better.
The wool surface is low and naturally distressed, soft and warm underfoot, with the honest patina of nearly half a century of natural aging.
