✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This rug was hand knotted in Isparta, Turkey in 1979 — making it approximately 46 years old. Among all the pieces in our current collection, this one stands apart for its color — a combination so unusual and so quietly beautiful that it stops you when you see it.
The outer border is a soft slate lavender — cool, calm, and atmospheric. It frames the inner composition with a color that is rarely seen in vintage Turkish rugs of this era. Inside the border, a dusty pink field opens wide, warm and faded to a gentle blush after nearly five decades. At the center, a classic Isparta medallion composition unfolds in ivory cream — formal and symmetrical, with corner spandrels anchoring each edge.
Across the pink field, richly colored floral bouquets bloom in every direction — deep pink roses, soft yellow blooms, sage green leaves, and dark burgundy accents. The colors are varied and generous, layered across the surface with the confident hand of a weaver who knew exactly what she was creating.
The wool surface is low and naturally distressed, with the honest patina of nearly half a century of life. The color remains vivid and present — this is not a faded rug. It is an aged one, and there is a difference.
