✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

This piece comes from Isparta — a city in southwestern Turkey that has been the heart of Turkish rug-making for over a century. Isparta rugs are renowned for their fine wool quality, intricate floral compositions, and rich Persian-influenced patterns.
The design centers around a classic medallion framed by cascading floral motifs, while the border carries the traditional grape vine pattern — a signature element of Isparta weaving. The warm cream and beige field contrasts beautifully with the rich brown border, accented throughout with delicate dusty blue floral details. Looking closely, you can see the precision of each handwoven row — no two sections are identical, which is the mark of genuine handcraft.
