This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This Isparta rug was hand-knotted in 1977 in the Isparta region of southwestern Turkey — one of Anatolia's most established rug-weaving traditions, known for its fine knotting, durable natural wool, and elegant classical compositions.

The design is an all-over floral lattice — a continuous repeat of curving vines, blossoms, and leafy scrolls that covers the entire field from edge to edge. A narrow floral border frames the composition on all sides, adding structure without weight. This type of all-over pattern is one of the most enduring formats in Turkish carpet tradition, translating well across different interior styles.

What makes this particular rug exceptional is its color — or rather, the near-absence of it. Nearly five decades of natural aging have bleached the original palette down to an almost pure ivory-white ground, with the floral knotwork remaining in soft warm brown and taupe. This level of fading cannot be chemically reproduced; it is the result of decades of light, time, and natural fiber aging. The effect is ghosted, tonal, and quietly beautiful — a rug that works through texture and whisper rather than pattern and color.
