This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This Isparta rug was hand-knotted in 1979 in the Isparta region of southwestern Turkey — one of Anatolia's most storied rug-weaving traditions, known for fine knotting, durable natural wool, and ornate classical compositions.

The design is a traditional central medallion layout: a large, symmetrical floral medallion anchors the center of the field, surrounded by a wide ornate border filled with curving vines, flowers, and navy blue scrollwork. This type of medallion composition draws directly from classical Ottoman and Persian carpet traditions — reinterpreted here through the hands of a village weaver in the late 1970s.

The palette is distinctly romantic: a faded dusty rose and blush pink field, softened by nearly five decades of age, carries a cream and ivory medallion at its center. Navy blue runs through the border and into the field details, grounding the composition with contrast. The overall effect is soft, layered, and deeply warm.
Please note: the left side of the rug shows a subtle tonal color variation — a natural characteristic that developed over decades due to differences in light exposure and the aging of natural wool dyes. This is not damage; it is an authentic hallmark of a genuinely old handmade textile, and adds to its one-of-a-kind character.
