This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG

This Isparta rug was hand-knotted in 1976 in the Isparta region of southwestern Turkey — one of Anatolia's most respected rug-weaving traditions. Isparta has been producing fine hand-knotted carpets for over a century, known for their dense knotting, durable wool, and elegant classical motifs.

The pattern on this rug is an all-over floral lattice — a continuous repeat of curving vines, small blossoms, and leafy scrolls that fills the entire field from edge to edge with no dominant border interruption. This type of design draws from classical Ottoman and Persian floral traditions, reinterpreted through the hands of an Anatolian village weaver.

The palette is beautifully restrained: a warm ivory-cream ground carries the design, with motifs rendered in soft taupe, warm brown, and touches of deeper mocha. Nearly five decades have gently softened the colors, creating the kind of muted, washed tone that simply cannot be replicated artificially. The surface has been professionally sheared to an even, low pile, revealing the fine knotwork beneath.

The overall effect is quiet and refined — a rug that adds warmth and texture without competing with its surroundings.
