This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.

What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This small rug comes from Isparta, Turkey. The design is an allover repeating medallion field — interlocking oval and diamond forms covering the entire surface in what weavers call a "sonsuz" or endless pattern. The border carries a pale aqua ground with floral and geometric accents.

What gives this rug its character is what time has done to it. The original deep red field has softened over decades into a warm dusty rose, while the aqua and mint details have faded to a silvery grey-blue. The border, in pale grey-white, frames everything with quiet elegance. This is a rug that has lived — and it shows in the best possible way.

The rug is in distressed condition consistent with age — low pile, significant fading throughout, structurally sound with no tears or repairs.

✦ THE MEANING BEHIND THE PATTERN
The allover repeating medallion field — known in Anatolian tradition as a "madalyon tekrar" composition — was believed to fill a space with continuous protection and abundance. Unlike a single central medallion, the repeating form carries no beginning and no end, symbolizing eternity and the unbroken thread of life.

In Isparta, this pattern was woven by women who understood that a rug was not just decoration. It was a statement of care — for the home, for the family, for the generations that would walk across it. This rug carried that intention for decades in an Anatolian home. Now it carries it into yours.
