✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.
You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This small rug is cut from a larger Isparta carpet. The original border survives at the top and bottom — a soft blush-pink band with brown geometric details and distinctive blue flower accents — while the side edges have been carefully finished.
The result is a piece that feels both vintage and contemporary: structured enough to read as a proper rug, open enough to fit into almost any modern interior.

The field carries an allover trailing floral vine — scrolling stems connecting four-petal flowers and leaf clusters across a near-white ivory ground. The colors have faded so completely that what remains is barely a whisper: warm taupe, dusty blush, soft grey-brown. The blue in the border has held its color best, providing the only real contrast in an otherwise perfectly neutral piece.

This is one of those rugs that works everywhere and with everything. It disappears into the room — in the best possible way.
The rug is in distressed condition consistent with age — very low pile, near-total fading, structurally sound with finished side edges.

✦ THE MEANING BEHIND THE PATTERN
The allover floral vine is one of the most enduring compositions in Anatolian weaving. In Turkish tradition, it represents the garden of abundance — a space where beauty grows without interruption, in all directions, without end.

The blue flower accents in the border are particularly meaningful. Blue — "mavi" in Turkish — was historically associated with protection and the warding off of misfortune. It appears in Turkish art from Iznik tiles to evil eye amulets, always carrying the same quiet power. The woman who wove this carpet placed blue at its edges intentionally: a frame of protection around a field of beauty. That intention survives in this small piece.
