This stone grey area rug was woven in 1981 — entirely by hand, using pure wool and the timeless Isparta technique. Once it carried a full composition. Now almost nothing remains.
Two large floral bouquets — one in the upper right corner, one in the lower left — are all that survived. They drift across the stone grey ground diagonally, like memories at the edge of forgetting. Barely there. Visible in certain light. Gone in others.
The pile has worn completely to the warp. What remains beneath is the dense hand-knotted cotton foundation — smooth, almost linen-like, cool to the touch. The stone grey has settled into something between silver and sand. The ghost bouquets glow softly in ivory and warm beige against it.
This is the rarest kind of vintage rug — not just aged, but transformed. For those who understand that sometimes the most powerful statement is almost no statement at all.
