✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This rug was hand knotted in Isparta, Turkey in 1974 — making it approximately 51 years old. It is one of the oldest pieces in our current collection, and one of the most stripped-back and serene.
The field has faded over more than five decades to a near-white ivory — clean and luminous, with the warmth that only genuinely aged wool can hold. Across the entire surface, an all-over arabesque vine lattice repeats continuously — delicate scrolling stems and small leaf forms in warm taupe, so close in tone to the ivory ground that the pattern is nearly invisible at first glance. It reveals itself gradually, the longer you look. No central medallion. No dominant border. Just the vine — quiet, even, and endless.
A narrow taupe border frames the outer edge with the lightest possible touch. The overall effect is fully monochromatic — ivory and taupe, nothing else. A rug that disappears into a room and makes everything else look better.
The wool surface is very low and heavily distressed — flat, honest, and full of the quiet dignity that only five decades of life can create.
