This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This Isparta rug was hand-knotted in 1983 in the Isparta region of southwestern Turkey — a weaving tradition known for its tight knotting, high-quality natural wool, and classical compositions.
The design is a borderless all-over rosette and vine scroll — a continuous, endlessly repeating pattern of small floral nodes and curving stems that fills the entire field from edge to edge with no dominant center and no structured border. This format is one of the most refined in Turkish carpet design: it demands that every knot be tied with consistent precision across the entire surface, with no central composition to anchor the eye.

The palette is exceptionally restrained. Over four decades of natural aging, the original colors have faded to a near-tonal harmony of ivory, cream, and warm sandy brown. The fading is slightly uneven — the center is marginally lighter, the edges marginally warmer — a natural result of decades of light exposure and use. This subtle variation gives the rug depth without introducing any strong color contrast.

The overall effect is serene and quietly sophisticated — a rug that adds texture and warmth to a room while disappearing into its surroundings in the best possible way.
