This ivory and sage green area rug was woven in 1976 — entirely by hand, using pure wool and the timeless Isparta technique. At the center sits a delicate floral medallion — sage green and warm brown flowers radiating softly outward from the ivory ground. Around it, scrolling vines drift across the open field, large sage green corner motifs answering the medallion from each angle, all framed by a complete sage green floral border.

The composition breathes. The ivory ground is generous and open — the sage green motifs float across it like leaves on still water. This is not a bold rug. It is a quiet one. And quiet rugs have a power of their own — they make everything around them look more beautiful.

For nearly fifty years the pile has worn nearly completely flat. The ivory has deepened into warm cream. The sage has faded into something softer — a colour between green and grey that no dye house could recreate. The warm brown has settled into taupe. This is not a flaw.
