This deep navy and red area rug was woven in 1976 — entirely by hand, using pure wool and the timeless Isparta technique. At the heart of the composition sits a large oval medallion — cream and red scrolling flowers radiating outward like a bloom frozen at the moment of opening. Around it, the deep navy field is alive with allover scrolling floral vine, large corner motifs answering the medallion from each angle.

A rich red terracotta border frames the entire composition in sweeping cream arabesk scrolls — warm against the cool navy, bold against the distressed surface.

For nearly fifty years this navy has faded into something extraordinary. Not the flat blue of a new rug — something deeper, more complex, more alive. The red has softened into terracotta.
