This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

This small area rug was hand-knotted in Isparta — one of Turkey's most celebrated rug-weaving cities — and dates to the 1980s, making it approximately 40 years old.
What makes this piece truly extraordinary is what time has done to it. The original pattern — whatever floral or geometric composition the weaver chose in the 1980s — has completely surrendered to decades of use and light. What remains is pure abstraction: crimson red and dusty pink tones bleeding into each other across the surface, with traces of ivory where the pile has worn most completely. The effect is painterly — less like a rug and more like a piece of textile art, something between a color field painting and a fragment of ancient cloth.
There is no visible pattern. There is only color, texture, and time.

When a rug loses its pattern entirely, it becomes something the weaver never intended — and something more honest than she could have designed. The original composition was a choice.
