This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This small rug comes from Isparta, Turkey's most celebrated rug-weaving region. The design is built around a central medallion composition with paired scrolling motifs in warm camel tones, flanked by delicate mint green leaf scrolls and scattered pink floral accents throughout the ivory field. The border carries a classic alternating red and green pattern — bold at the edges, softening everything within.

The colors have mellowed beautifully over time. The ivory has deepened to a warm cream, the mint has faded to a soft sage, and the pinks have quieted to a dusty rose. This is exactly what decades of natural aging does to quality wool — it doesn't fade, it refines.
The rug is in good condition with even pile and no structural issues.

✦ THE MEANING BEHIND THE PATTERN
The scrolling paired motifs at the center of this rug are known in Anatolian weaving tradition as "koçboynuzu" variations — ram's horn forms that symbolize strength, fertility, and protection. Combined with the scattered pink flowers representing joy and abundance, this composition was one a weaver chose for her home with intention.
In Isparta tradition, these patterns were passed down from mother to daughter. The woman who wove this rug didn't follow a printed design — she carried the pattern in her hands, in her memory, in her fingers.
