✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.
You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This small rug was woven in Isparta, one of Turkey's most celebrated rug-weaving regions, known for its fine wool and delicate floral compositions. The design features a central oval medallion surrounded by trailing floral vines and a richly detailed border — a classic Isparta layout refined over generations of weavers.
The palette is warm and versatile: a creamy ivory field contrasted by rich brown borders, with soft touches of dusty blue and muted terracotta in the floral details. These are the colors of an Anatolian home — unpretentious, enduring, and quietly beautiful.

The rug is in good condition with an even pile and no structural issues. The colors show natural mellowing consistent with age, giving it the softened, lived-in quality that makes vintage pieces so much more interesting than new ones.

✦ THE MEANING BEHIND THE PATTERN
The floral medallion is one of the oldest compositions in Anatolian weaving. In Turkish tradition, flowers were never purely decorative — each bloom carried meaning. Roses signified love and paradise, carnations represented divine beauty, and the central medallion itself was believed to protect the home it was placed in.

The woman who wove this rug chose this pattern deliberately. In Isparta, floral designs were often woven by young women preparing their trousseau — each knot tied with the hope of a home filled with beauty and abundance. When you place this rug in your entryway or at your bedside, you carry that intention forward.
