This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG
This small rug is cut from a larger Isparta carpet, with the original border preserved at the top and bottom edges and the side edges carefully finished. The result is a complete, structured composition — a proper medallion rug in miniature.
The design centers on a layered diamond medallion built from concentric floral rings — rose blooms and leaf scrolls radiating outward from a small central diamond in warm camel. Above and below the medallion, large open floral clusters float freely on the ivory ground. The border at each end carries a dense leafy scroll in dark brown and taupe, framing the composition with quiet authority.
What makes this piece exceptional is its palette. Every color has faded to its most refined version: deep brown has become warm charcoal, camel has softened to sand, and the ivory ground glows. There is no single color that dominates — it is entirely tonal, entirely neutral, and entirely timeless. This is the kind of rug that works in any room, with any furniture, in any style of home.
The rug is in distressed condition consistent with age — very low pile, significant natural fading, structurally sound with finished side edges.

The floral clusters surrounding it are not merely decorative: in Turkish weaving tradition, roses carry the soul of the weaver herself, placed into the fabric as an offering.
The woman who wove the original carpet built this composition from the center outward, knot by knot, working toward edges she could see but the viewer never would. This small piece carries the heart of that work — the medallion, the flowers, the border — intact and complete, as she intended.
